appointment within 30 calendar days. - Vulva disease with suspicion of malignancy. For optimum care, patient should be seen within 2 weeks. - Unexplained vulval lump, ulceration or bleeding. For optimum care, patient should be seen within 2 weeks. - Postmenopausal women with abnormal vulval lesions - Pregnant or immunosuppressed
Cat 2 · 90 days
appointment within 90 calendar days. - Suspected vulval dystrophy - Bartholin’s cysts or other vulval cysts in patients >40 years old - Vulva warts where: - the patient is immunocompromised (e.g. HIV positive, immunosuppressant medications) - the diagnosis is unclear - atypical genital warts (including pigmented lesions) - there are positive results from the screen for other STIs
Cat 3 · 365 days
appointment within 365 calendar days. - Vulva lesion where: - there is treatment failure or where treatment cannot be tolerated due to side-effects - there are problematic recurrences - Vulva rashes - Vulva warts - Bartholin’s cyst/labial cysts
Referral will be returned without this. If a mandatory test cannot be obtained, say so in the referral.
- History of: - pain - swelling - pruritus - dyspareunia - localised lesions (pigmented or non-pigmented lesions) - STIs or other vaginal infections - local trauma - Elicit onset, duration and course of presenting symptoms - Date of last menstrual period - Medical management to date - Cervical screening if referral for warts
The following conditions are out of scope for this service: - Elective cosmetic surgery e.g. labiaplasty - NB labial hypertrophy in paediatric and adolescent patients: refer to Statewide Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecology Services (SPAG) at Queensland Children's Hospital/RBWH. - Elective tubal ligation but will be accepted as a category 3, if: - patient cannot use/trialled other contraceptive methods - patient does not want to pass on any genetic disorders or disabilities - indicated for women suffering from medical or obstetric conditions that would contraindicate future pregnancy - Routine contraceptive counselling - Routine Implanon/Mirena®/progesterone-releasing IUD insertion for contraception - Primary menopausal care - Cervical screening test - Postnatal check-up - Reversal of tubal ligation - IVF services - Elective termination of pregnancy* - Gender reassignment - see Gender Clinic [https://www.goldcoast.health.qld.gov.au/referrals/services/gender-service-statewide-service]
