Cat 1 · 30 days

appointment within 30 calendar days. - Pathologically confirmed lung malignancy - Radiological features highly consistent with lung cancer - Large pulmonary nodule or mass - Presence of significant mediastinal lymphadenopathy - Lesions associated with invasion of other thoracic structure including chest wall, vertebra, pericardium or mediastinum* - Lesions associated with airway obstruction and distal atelectasis/pneumonitis* - Pleural effusion - Biochemical abnormalities (such as hypercalcaemia or hyponatraemia) - Previously treated lung cancer with suspected recurrence * For optimum care, patient should be seen within 2 weeks

Cat 2 · 90 days

appointment within 90 calendar days. - Treated lung cancer requiring ongoing follow up

Cat 3 · 365 days

appointment within 365 calendar days. - No category 3 critiera

Essential referral information

Referral will be returned without this. If a mandatory test cannot be obtained, say so in the referral.

- Patient knowledge and understanding of results - Relevant imaging (CXR/CT) (including previous images)

Out of scope / wrong door

The following conditions are out of scope for this service: - Chest pain without abnormalities on CT chest - Occupational lung screening - Direct screening for TB – should be referred to contact and immigration screening (regional Tuberculosis control centre) - Pleural plaques
