appointment within 30 calendar days. - Child aged < 13 years with Stage 2 hypertension (BP ≥ 95th percentile* + 12mmHg)
- Adolescent aged 13-18 years with hypertension (systolic BP ≥ 140 mmHg OR diastolic BP ≥ 90 mmHg) on 2 occasions at least 1 week apart
- A child currently in Out-Of-Home-Care (OOHC) or at risk of entering or leaving OOHC, where they have previously been on a waiting list for this problem and were removed without receiving a service

appointment within 90 calendar days. - Child aged < 13 years with Stage 1 hypertension (BP ≥ 95th percentile*)
- Adolescent aged 13-18 years with hypertension (systolic BP ≥ 130-139 mmHg OR diastolic BP ≥ 80-89 mmHg) on 3 occasions at least 1 month apart

appointment within 365 calendar days. - No category 3 criteria
Essential referral information
Referral will be returned without this. If a mandatory test cannot be obtained, say so in the referral.
- List of medications including details of all treatments offered and efficacy
- History of BP measurements including 24-hour measurements or home measurements if available
- FBC & ELFT results
- Protein creatinine ratio (PCR) (ideally early morning sample)
- Urine midstream M/C/S (including testing for red cell morphology and casts preferable)
- Ultrasound (kidney, ureters and bladder) and any other available kidney imaging results
- Kidney duplex report (only if renal artery stenosis suspected)
- Confirmation of Out-Of-Home-Care (OOHC) (where appropriate)

Out of scope / wrong door
The following conditions are out of scope for this service:
- Patients 16 years and over should be referred to the appropriate Adult Outpatient service closest to home.
- Services that should be initially provided by primary care or community based allied health care for children, including well infant care and advice, parenting and behaviour management for young children, developmental services for children with mild developmental delay
- Educational assessment of school-age children
- Gold Coast University Hospital does not offer the following Paediatric specialty services.
- Referrals will be redirected to General Paediatrics for initial assessment, management and consideration of referral for tertiary care at Queensland Children’s Hospital:
- Immunology
- Renal Paediatrics
- Gastroenterology
- Genetics (RBWH)
