Cat 1 · 30 days
appointment within 30 calendar days. - Patients who are HBsAg positive with abnormal ALT or evidence of liver decompensation (e.g. jaundice and/or ascites and/or encephalopathy) - Pregnant patients who are HBsAg positive and have HBV DNA >200,000 IU/mL or abnormal ALT
Cat 2 · 90 days
appointment within 90 calendar days. - Patients who are HBsAg positive without presence of concerning features - Selected patients can be managed in primary care as per locally agreed protocol -
Cat 3 · 365 days
appointment within 365 calendar days. - No category 3 criteria
Referral will be returned without this. If a mandatory test cannot be obtained, say so in the referral.
- Recent (<6 months) upper abdominal ultrasound or CT reports. Surveillance imaging to remain up to date whilst on wait list - General referral information including details of presenting issues - Comorbidities and past medical history - Height, weight, and BMI - ELFT, FBC, Alpha fetoprotein (AFP) results (omit AFP in pregnancy) - HBV, HCV serology results - HBV DNA quantitative
