appointment within 30 calendar days. - Possible CNS signs (visual disturbance, morning headaches etc) - Hypoglycaemia - Untreated hypothyroidism - Cushing’s syndrome (not iatrogenic) - Signs and symptoms suggestive of IBD, renal failure other serious intercurrent illness or significant medical problems - Pubertal arrest
Cat 2 · 90 days
appointment within 90 calendar days. - Constitutional delay of growth and puberty - Delayed puberty >12y females and 13y males - Primary or secondary amenorrhoea - Small for gestational age with no catch-up growth - Abnormal coeliac serology - Hypothyroidism started on treatment - Syndrome associated short stature - Documented channel crossing due to poor height velocity - Iatrogenic Cushing’s syndrome - Skeletal dysplasias - Short stature with increased fracturing - Short stature with relative obesity
Cat 3 · 365 days
appointment within 365 calendar days. - If there is parental concern - Variants of normal growth including familial short stature
Referral will be returned without this. If a mandatory test cannot be obtained, say so in the referral.
- Serial measurements are needed to assess a child’s growth - A detailed history (personal, family & social) - Details of all treatments offered and efficacy - Physical examination - signs of neglect or abuse - Assessment of psychosocial deprivation - Development assessment - Feeding history
The following conditions are out of scope for this service: - Patients 16 years and over should be referred to the appropriate Adult Outpatient service closest to home. - Services that should be initially provided by primary care or community based allied health care for children, including well infant care and advice, parenting and behaviour management for young children, developmental services for children with mild developmental delay - Educational assessment of school-age children - Gold Coast University Hospital does not offer the following Paediatric specialty services. - Referrals will be redirected to General Paediatrics for initial assessment, management and consideration of referral for tertiary care at Queensland Children’s Hospital: - Immunology - Renal Paediatrics - Gastroenterology - Genetics (RBWH)
