Cat 1 · 30 days
appointment within 30 calendar days. - Patients with early stage or locally advanced Endometrial cancer should be referred to the Gynaecology-Oncology surgical team for evaluation and further investigation / staging. Patients are usually then presented in a multi-disciplinary meeting for treatment planning and further referral if required for Medical Oncology input
- Patients requiring chemotherapy and/or radiation following surgery for locally advanced disease (previously histological diagnosis and discussion in Gynae-Oncology MDT) For optimum care, patient should be seen within 8 weeks
- Metastatic endometrial cancer (biopsy confirmed)
- Should we suggest referral to a subspecialty (breast surgery or general medicine) for investigation if biopsy unable to be provided in the community or happy to leave as is? (we triage a lot of referrals for suspected metastatic disease from GPs and patients are generally charged for private CT guided biopsy)
Cat 2 · 90 days
appointment within 90 calendar days. - Patient previously treated for endometrial cancer with chemotherapy requiring routine follow up
- Transfer of care from another health service
Cat 3 · 365 days
appointment within 365 calendar days. - No category 3 criteria
Essential referral information
Referral will be returned without this. If a mandatory test cannot be obtained, say so in the referral.
- Family history
- Previous cancer treatment details including location; dates; treating doctor; details of prior treatment regimes and imaging / pathology results.
- FBC ELFTs results
- Histology /cytology results – current +/- previous
- Ultrasound and CT results of the abdomen and pelvis
Out of scope / wrong door
- Haematological malignancies (lymphoma, leukaemia or myeloma), should be referred to Benign and Malignant Haematology
- Paediatric patients should be referred to Queensland Children’s Hospital [https://www.childrens.health.qld.gov.au/chq/health-professionals/referral-guidelines/]
