appointment within 30 calendar days. - Acute dermatoses (diagnosis in doubt)
- Severe unstable dermatoses
- Severe skin infections
- Extensive inflammatory dermatoses
- Dermatoses causing significant distress or preventing work
- Examples include:
- Generalised acute eruptions
- Erythroderma
- Acute contact dermatitis
- Cutaneous lymphomas
- Immuno-bullous disorders
- Complicated psoriasis and dermatitis
- Severe impetiginized/infective conditions
- Pyoderma gangrenosum
- Severe cystic acne vulgaris not responding to treatment including nodulo-cystic acne
- Rapidly enlarging facial infantile haemangiomas
Cat 2 · 90 days
appointment within 90 calendar days. - Stable dermatoses causing distress
- Minor skin infections
- Congenital skin disorders
- Acne, mild-moderate severity
- Psychiatric diseases manifesting in the skin
- Examples include:
- Generalised chronic eczema
- Chronic urticaria, psoriasis, eczema
- Erythema nodosum, necrobiosis lipoidica
- Chronic relapsing scabies
- Acne vulgaris not responding to treatment
- Dermatitis artefacta, delusions of parasitosis and severe dysmorphobia
- Genodermatoses (e.g. Morbus Darier, Ichythyosis)
- Hidradenitis Suppurativa
Cat 3 · 365 days
appointment within 365 calendar days. - Minor conditions
- Examples include:
- Congenital naevi
- Haemangioma
- Molluscum contagiosum, large verruca
- Recalcitrant untreated warts

Referral will be returned without this. If a mandatory test cannot be obtained, say so in the referral.
- Clinical reason for referral
- Duration of symptoms
- Past medical history including duration and response to previous treatment
- Current medication
- Any relevant histopathology
- Severity of the condition
- Impact on quality of life
Out of scope / wrong door
The following conditions are out of scope for this service:
- Suspected melanoma
- Non-melanoma skin cancers
- Rapidly enlarging skin tumours
- Skin tags
- Venous ulceration
- Sexually transmitted infections
- Cosmetic procedures
- Routine skin checks
